Our University’s Zero Waste Certificate Has Been Renewed Until 2031

The Zero Waste efforts carried out at our university with an environmentally conscious and sustainable campus approach continue to be crowned with institutional success. In this context, as a result of the effective and efficient operation of the existing Zero Waste System established at our university, our university was awarded the Zero Waste Certificate by the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change in 2021.

Over the past five years, under the coordination of our Zero Waste Management Commission and with the contributions of all units, environmental awareness activities, the separation of waste at its source, efforts to increase recycling rates, and activities aimed at expanding sustainable environmental policies were carried out with determination.

In line with the practices implemented and the gains achieved during this process, an application had been submitted to the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change for the renewal of the Zero Waste Certificate.

As a result of the evaluations and inspections carried out by the Ministry, it was determined that our university met all the criteria related to its Zero Waste Management System. Accordingly, our university’s Zero Waste Certificate was renewed for a period of 5 years, valid until 2031.

The renewal of the Zero Waste Certificate is not only a concrete indicator of the work our university has carried out in line with its goals of environmental sustainability, combating climate change, and achieving a green campus, but also demonstrates that environmental awareness has become an inseparable part of the institutional culture.
