Urban and Regional Planning Graduate Programs


Urban and Regional Planning Graduate Programs are offered within the Urban and Regional Planning Department of the Graduate Education Institute at Konya Technical University. The diversity of the academic staff who conduct courses or supervise theses in the Urban and Regional Planning Master's, Urban Design, and Doctoral programs allows students to work on current theoretical and practical issues in the field of urban planning.

 

Master's Programs

Urban and Regional Planning Master's Program

The courses in the program are divided into two categories: applied and theoretical. The Urban Planning Studio course is applied, while the other courses are theoretical. Courses are offered in various fields such as urban accessibility, decision-making processes in planning, new technologies, real estate development, economic structure, tourism and environmental problems, ecological approaches, urban sprawl, and housing area planning. Successful completion of the Coursework, Seminar, and Thesis stages is required to complete the Master's program.

Urban Design Master's Program

To summarize the research topics undertaken in the program, the general headings include: Urban Transformation Models and Applications, Historical Environment Protection Policies, Urban Identity, Coastal Area Design, Urban Morphology and Typology, City Law, Geographic Information Systems in City Planning, Public Space, Urban Design Applications, etc. The courses in the program are divided into two categories: applied and theoretical. The Urban Design Applications course is applied, while the other courses are theoretical. Courses are offered on different areas such as urban spaces, city streets, coastal areas, urban morphology, application problems, urban design methods and techniques, neighborhood design, and sustainability. To complete the master's program, it is necessary to successfully complete the Course, Seminar, and Thesis stages.

Doctoral Programs

City and Regional Planning Doctoral Program

City and Regional Planning Doctoral Program; Konya Technical University, within the Graduate Education Institute, offers a program under the Department of Urban and Regional Planning. The diversity of expertise among the academic staff who teach and supervise theses in the Urban and Regional Planning Doctoral Program allows students to work on current theoretical and practical issues in the field of urban planning.

The courses offered in the program are diversified to contribute to different areas of expertise. Courses are offered on areas such as neoliberal policies and globalization, urban transformation, urban design, urban fabric and perception, regional development, and geographic information systems, covering both smaller and larger scales. Successful completion of the Coursework, Seminar, Qualifying Exam, and Thesis stages is required to complete the doctoral program.
